mini kewpie doll

The first Kewpie saw the light of day as a drawing in a women’s magazine in December 1909, designed by Rose O’Neill. The small, charming and tedious alpha-like children immediately became very popular with both children and adults.

Rose even described the Kewpierne as “A kind of small guardian angel who is to look after people and teach them both to have fun, but also to behave properly”
The first Kewpies dolls were produced as bisque dolls in Walthershausen in Germany in 1912 by J.D. Kestner.
Today the originals are collector items. This one is not vintage
